Oh me, Oh my!

Welcome! So what is this blog all about anyway? Well…
I am a city girl, born and raised in the suburbs of Houston, Texas so let’s just call me City Girl.

My husband is from the Land Down Unda’ (Australia for those that don’t know!) and he was born and raised on a farm but ended up in Sydney at about 14 years old.  But he’s got more time on a farm than me so let’s call him Country Bloke.

Country Bloke and I have decided that city life is just not for us. So after years of living in locales such as Hawaii, Japan, California, Colorado, and Australia, we traded in our city slicker attitude and moved out to the country. Over the past year of “Country Living”, I have officially decided to throw my entire being into creating this very natural lifestyle where we give back to the land as much as we take from it.

This blog will be about our adventures in creating a self-sustaining lifestyle, breaking free from the rat race one day at a time. We have 10 sheep (5 are seen in the picture below), 2 young kids and my mother all living on our (almost) 6 acres in “rural Maryland”.

My intention with this is to share some of the ups and downs of trying to sustain sheep, a family, very demanding, full time jobs, and a “jardin potager” which is the fancy French way to say kitchen garden, as well as starting a vineyard in Texas on 34 acres we have there. Whew! It’s no wonder my social calendar is lacking!

I will cover my attempt at gardening, our often hilarious handling of the sheep (because we have no idea what we are doing), adventures in parenting (because we have no idea what we are doing), country style decorating, honest financial advice with REAL numbers (because I’m obsessed with finding the best deals and living frugally), and anything else that I think people might find useful in their everyday life.
Enjoy and thank you for stopping by!

Ya’ll come back now, ya hear!
